APALACHIN (WBNG) — The 17th Annual ‘Mudcat” Grant All-Star Golf Tournament kicked off on Thursday morning. The event started off on a high note; Jim “Mudcat” Grant sang the National Anthem.

“It’s a wonderful day. The charities that we’ve had we’ve raised, over the years we’ve raised a million 500. That’s good too, so I feel real good about it,” Mudcat said.

The tournament benefits four local charities, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Binghamton, Broome County Urban League, Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW) and Catholic Charities.

“As a whole it’s great to see the local community leaders come together for such great local causes, you know I think that’s the most important thing,” J.B. Bump, general manager of Links at Hiawatha, said.

Mudcat was especially pleased with how the weather cooperated for the tournament.

“Look at the sunshine, you see, it was cloudy at first but now, because of this tournament, we got it all worked out and we’re ready to go,” Mudcat said.
