Meet the Staff

Jail Communion

For the last ten years, The Reverend Cris Mogenson, B.A., M. Div. has served as the program director and Coordinating Chaplain at the Broome County Public Safety Facility and has been in the ministry for 30 years as an institutional chaplain and pastor in 8 states.

Elizabeth Hayes, B.A., M.Ed., the Coordinator of discharge planning and reentry services, has served as an agency administrator and an educator in NY and several countries throughout Europe.

The Chairperson of the Jail Ministry Advisory Board is Deacon Dorothy Pierce, B.A., M.S. has served a remarkable career as an educator and currently severs as a Diocese Deacon for the Episcopal Church.

The Jail Chaplains' office staff in the Broome County Sheriff's Correctional facility includes a part-time Muslim Chaplain, Imam Kasim Kopuz, and a part-time Roman Catholic Chaplain, Fr. Stan Gerlock, who are County Employees. Often our staff includes highly skilled ministerial and MSW interns.
