About the Broome County Council of Churches

Who are we?

The Broome County Council of Churches has provided service opportunities for Broome County Churches since 1941. Today, we are a consortium of churches from various faith traditions. Our mission is: "Connecting compassion with needs; inspiring growth with dignity"

What do we do?

We are an organization that collaborates with many facets of our community. In addition to providing services to the sick, disabled, injured, the elderly and youth in our community, the prisoner, the hungry, and the homeless and poor of Broome County, we act as an advocate for change and reconciliation, promoting peace, justice, and genuine community across racial, ethnic, gender, socio-economic, and religious lines.

Why do we do this?

In response to the call to love our neighbor and with the conviction that people embody love in practical acts of service and care, the Council of Churches endeavors to make God's love for our neighbors known.
